Tourism Ireland welcomes strong growth in overseas visitors of 9.4% for January to August 2014

Today’s figures from the CSO (Central Statistics Office) for overseas visitors to the Republic of Ireland confirm strong growth of +9.4% for January-August 2014, almost 450,000 additional visitors when compared with the same eight-month period last year.

While the recent Scottish independence vote was keenly monitored by the world, one of the most watched sports events unfolds this week at Gleneagles as U.S. and European teams meet to compete for the 2014 Ryder Cup. The Wall Street Journal is calling it “The Other Scottish Showdown.”

A 150-bedroom hotel is at the centre of plans to develop a grassroots tennis and golf academy near Stirling, headed by Judy Murray and Colin Montgomerie.
Alongside the four-to-five star hotel, the Park of Keir project is set to feature six indoor and six outdoor tennis courts, six-hole golf course, 3G multi-sport all-weather pitch, a café-restaurant and Andy Murray tennis museum. There will also be a development of 100 houses.
