Liam Barn has been appointed to Project Manager at the Fife Golf Partnership. His role is the first senior appointment to the organisation which launched in November 2011.
The Fife Golf Partnership (FGP) has been set up to promote Fife’s golf sector. It brings together clubs, accommodation providers and the golf travel trade to build on Fife’s reputation as the home of golf. The partnership is a company Limited by Guarantee, owned and run by its membership; providing marketing and business support to its members and presenting a unified voice for the Fife golf industry.
A seasoned golf practitioner, Liam has been a PGA golf professional for 12 years both as a player and coach. He has an MSc in Marketing and has a fantastic commercial track record, providing marketing assistance to Perth & Kinross Council, NHS Tayside and most recently Scottish & Southern Energy.
The remit of the Project Manager is to contribute to increasing the economic benefits of golf tourism in Fife through the transition of the Fife Golf Partnership into a sustainable organisation, developing clear communication channels and enhancing skills and expertise amongst members. Liam Barn commented “I am very much looking forward to getting started in the role. Fife is one of the world’s iconic destinations and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to help grow the Kingdom’s already fantastic reputation. The Fife Golf Partnership is a very exciting initiative which will benefit all member businesses involved in the golf industry in Fife, including accommodation providers and tour operators as well as clubs and courses. Regardless of the size of member organisation, my vision is to ensure benefits of membership are realised, whether it’s more golfers playing courses or a greater number of visitors enjoying Fife’s hospitality.”
Keith Winter, Head of Fife Council Enterprise, Planning and Protective Services and interim Chair of FGP said “Since launching only 8 months ago, the Partnership has already gained over 80 business members showcasing local commitment and expertise in this sector. The appointment of a Project Manager will strengthen our voice and help us develop strategic and commercial goals for the benefit of the partnership but particularly for our members. We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Liam to the Fife Golf Partnership. He brings a considerable depth of experience and industry knowledge to this new position and is a golfing professional in every sense.”
